Have you always wanted to work in a bakery? Well, here’s your chance. We are interviewing for a part-time position, with multiple responsibilities. The position will increase in hours and responsibilities as our wedding season gets into full swing.

Jennifer Brickey curates the Small Hall Gallery, and she’s looking for artists for the 2012 season.

If you’re not familiar with the Small Hall.. it is a hall located between Magpies Bakery and The Glowing Body just north of downtown Knoxville. Jennifer has been curating shows at the Small Hall for about two years. “This space is special in that it is intimate and reminds me of many smaller spaces that I have seen ‘by surprise’ in larger cities like D.C.,” says Jennifer. “I am looking for interesting/funky artists that have a cohesive body of work that could fill the Hall.”

Our friend and fellow-baker, Jodi Rhoden, will be on hand to sign her new book, Cake Ladies ~ Celebrating a Southern Tradition (Lark, 2011). This book features a spanktacular feature on our own Peggy Hambright (and includes her recipe for German Chocolate Cake). Peg’s is one of almost 20 profiles of truly outstanding bakers in a book which would make an ideal holiday gift for the cake lady in your life.
